New immunization requirements for 2016
Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.
For more information about SB 277, please see the Frequently Asked Questions available at: http://www.shotsforschool.org/laws/sb277faq/.
For more information about school immunization requirements and resources, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website at www.shotsforschool.org, or contact your local health department or county office of education.
Thank you for helping us to keep our children and community healthy.

Welcome to Montgomery Creek School
Hello! Montgomery Creek Elementary School and the Mountain Union Elementary School District is a place where students live and learn with beautiful scenery, clean air and a wholesome atmosphere. We have strong community support and participation. We treasure our volunteers and service clubs.
Our program features pre-school through eighth grade. We currently have 84 students and are growing swiftly from the 62 we had last year. Our very popular after school program, SHARE enjoys a 70% attendance on any given day.
We stress academic growth, customized intervention and accelerated academics for those who need a faster pace. We concentrate on the basics; Math and English Language Arts. These are the subjects all students need to be successful in a future career. Students explore sports, technology, science, robotics, gardening, dance, art, student government and history.
We are proud to announce our newest teacher, Michelle Blunt. She is teaching Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade. She excellent paraprofessionals in that room are doing a fantastic job!
We are fortunate to have highly qualified teachers and paraprofessional aides in every classroom at our school.
Our 6th, 7th and 8th graders are piloting an exciting new program called Positive Action. This curriculum works to create students with strong self esteem, empathy and goals for success. Anti-bullying and standing up as a group is encouraged; the social climate of the whole student body is improving under this program.
Our Parent Booster Club is waiting for you to come and participate. See the Student Handbook for all club and meeting dates. And, as always, please come by and have a cup of coffee with me and our fantastic staff.
